Schedules

I am quickly learning to juggle various definitions of what days and weeks are at work.

There’s the standard definition of a day starting at midnight local time. But all our work is based on east coast time, so the day really starts at 10pm the night before. Then there’s the fact that my work day is whatever day my shift starts on, so for me Friday will last until 7am Saturday. Plus the two channels I monitor have logs that start at 6am and 7am eastern, so their days start at 4am and 5am locally.

My schedule is posted as a Sunday-Saturday week. My personal workweek is Thursday-Monday. And the time sheets I fill out for the company I’m contracted through run Saturday-Friday.

It’s the kind of thing I try not to think too long or hard about.
